LCW Legacy Programme Supports Saundersfoot Primary School

The LCW Legacy Programme has extended its support to Saundersfoot Primary School following the recent announcement that the school will now host the transition area for the popular Saundersfoot Triathlon in September.

Whilst the Legacy Programme has been supporting local primary schools with extra swimming coaches in lessons, sports days and bikes through the Geraint Thomas trust this additional support comes in the form of much needed hoodies for the sport teams who represent the school across a multitude of sports.

Nick Allen, Head Master, had the following to say on the support:

As a community focused school it is important to us that we support events and groups in and around Saundersfoot. When Matthew and Ollie approached the school we were keen to be involved, especially as the school will become a transition area and this is such a key aspect for athletes and competitors. We hope we can contribute to the events success and do what we can to ensure Saundersfoot Triathlon is a success rewarding all those involved for their hard work and dedication.

I would like to thank Matthew and Ollie for the sports tops and support, I am sure some of the pupils wearing the tops this year will be future triathletes.

Saundersfoot Triathlon now takes place on the Friday evening promoting a jubilant, carnival atmosphere for the athletes. The primary school will play a key part in the event by hosting the transition area whilst the world-famous finish line moves to the Strand. Key groups will support the event utilising the generous £400 donation from AWE for groups of 10 or more volunteers.

CEO of Activity Wales Events Matthew Evans thanked the school for their valued support:

“Saundersfoot Primary School has always been an integral part of the local community and we are very excited to be working closely with them this year. The transition area is a vital component in the triathlon flow and the school grounds are perfectly placed to host athletes and their equipment. Nick and his awesome staff and pupils have been very accommodating with their support of the event and we can’t thank them enough. We’re extremely proud to be able to donate the for the sports teams which will carry the Long Course Legacy brand. A programme very close to our hearts which has enabled hundreds of local children to access coaching and experiences across a range of multisport activities.”
