Greenhill School benefit from Long Course Weekend Legacy Programme

News

The local secondary school has long been a huge supporter of the event and in 2022 was made the Official Parking Partner. The legacy of this partnership has been significant for the school and as budgets have been cut, thousands of vital pounds have been raised, to plug those gaps and ensure the school can offer life changing experiences across both sport and academic levels.

2024 has been a record-breaking year with over £2000.00 raised from parking alone.

Charlotte Martin, Business Manager at Greenhill had the following to say at the recent cheque presentation,

“You cannot underestimate the value this is to Greenhill School.  Long Course Weekend makes such a difference and we look forward to working with them in 2025!"

Mattthew Evans CEO of LCW echoed Charlotte’s thoughts,

“Greenhill have been an incredible support and important part of the delivery of Long Course Weekend on many levels.  We are delighted that our programmes continue to hit the grass roots of Pembrokeshire.  Long Course through its community programmes continues to help throughout the county and we are always grateful to all the athletes that travel and help make such a positive contribution throughout the county.”

Former Greenhill School A Level Student and now Global Relations Manager @ LCW Oliver Duckett PGA, shared in Charlotte’s enthusiasm,

“Greenhill School has always played integral part of the Long Course Weekend here in Tenby and we are delighted to be able to ensure that these funds reach the right areas of our education system. Having attended Greenhill to do my A Levels, I know first-hand how important fund raising at the school can be, and I look forward to developing this relationship in future years to enhance the experiences of students and the local community. The Legacy Programme has had a huge impact on swimming pass rates in local primary schools over the past 2 years and this is a testament to the athletes, supporters and local businesses that support LCW year on year.”

About The Long Course Legacy

The Long Course Legacy Wales programme was set up to ensure that no child would face barriers to sport in the areas where we race. Whilst each Global Legacy looks different, the focus on child development here in Wales has proven very successful and the organisers look forward to further developing and investing in these over future editions.
