Deborah Wissink Smashes Overall Wales Swimrun Record

The Wales Swimrun delivered an incredible day of racing, but it was the performances of the female competitors that truly stole the show.

Leading the way was Deborah Wissink, who produced an outstanding performance to be crowned the new Wales Swimrun Champion.

Deborah completed the challenging course in a remarkable 04:22:25, setting a new benchmark not only for the women’s race, but for the event overall. Her time was an incredible five minutes faster than the previous overall course record, making her the fastest competitor to ever complete the Wales Swimrun.

It was a hugely impressive display across a course that demands so much from its competitors, combining challenging open-water swimming with tough running sections through the spectacular Welsh landscape.

And Deborah wasn’t the only woman rewriting the record books.

Tamzin Clark delivered another fantastic performance to secure second place in 04:36:17. Her time also bettered the previous women’s course record, underlining the exceptional standard of racing at this year’s event.

To have two female competitors break the previous women’s record on the same day was a brilliant moment for the Wales Swimrun and a fantastic showcase of the strength of women competing in the sport.

With records broken, outstanding racing throughout the field and a new overall benchmark set, this year's Wales Swimrun will certainly be one to remember.
