Mumbles Duathlon Race Report 2022

New course record at Mumbles Duathlon!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for the return of Mumbles Duathlon 2022. The event took place on 26th March in Mumbles, Knabb Rock.

With the youngest athlete taking part just 15, we welcomed 700 athletes to the season opener: with over 300 of them being first-timers. Two distances were on offer, the super sprint 5k Run/21k Bike/3k Run and the Sprint 5k Run/32k Bike/5k Run. The crowds came out in force, no doubt attracted by the spring sunshine and amazing finish line atmosphere!

The buzz of the crowds and beautiful weather must have played part in our Duathletes achieving some incredible results! The 11-year course record for the Sprint distance was beaten by Port Talbot Harriers’, Kyle Blackmore with an amazing time of 1:27:33. Craig Seaman came in just under 3 minutes later clinching second place ahead of Tom Danter finishing at 1:30:24. The ladies’ record remains held since year one, back in 2011. The ladies didn’t disappoint though with Caitlin Peers taking the top spot at 1:45:46, Bethan Jones a close second with a time of 1:48:10 and Melissa Dando securing third place with 1:49:28.

A huge thank you goes to our sponsors Gower College Swansea and Swansea Bay Health charities who even brought along Bella the Bunny for some finish line support! As ever our great team of marshals made the event possible, keeping athletes safe and encouraged throughout the race.

Entries will shortly be open for the 2023 event which will welcome a BRAND NEW middle distance to the course. All information can be found at www.mumblesduathlon.com
