Swansea Triathlon Race Report 2018

Swansea Triathlon 2018 took place on Sunday 20th of May in Swansea City Centre. The race starts in the SA1 area at Swansea Dock and ends in Castle Gardens for a memorable red carpet finish.
Almost 1000 athletes swam, cycled and ran around the city in this year’s sprint triathlon.

Swansea is the second race of Activity Wales Event’s race season and certainly one not to be missed, the crowds always come out in masses and it makes for an amazing race day for both athletes and supporters.

The top 3 positions in the men’s category was close.. In first place and holding on to his Swansea Tri first place crown was Alex Matchett with a time of 58 minutes and 58 seconds, a close second came James Dean with a time of 1 hour and 24 seconds.
In third came Will Munday with a time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 12 seconds.
All three top male came nail bitingly close, these winners are ones to watch in future events!

In first place came Hannah Munday with an amazing time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 8 seconds, who absolutely smashed the field with the closest female to her over 8 minutes behind. Second place Emma Richards with a time of 1 hour 14 minutes and 36 seconds. Extremely close behind was Laura Clements who finished in 1 hour 14 minutes and 58 seconds – a close race for second place!

Our great team of marshals made the event possible, keeping athletes safe and encouraged throughout the race, along with the masses of enthusiastic supporters.
